Lane restrictions on I-80 near West Des Moines begin Nov. 30

CRESTON, Iowa – Nov. 25, 2009 – Road construction work on east- and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane in each direction at exit 117 west of West Des Moines in Dallas County starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Creston construction office.

In addition, a 16-foot width lane restriction will be in place on I-80 in the area during the project and intermittent 12-foot width lane restrictions on both the eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at exit 117.

The project is scheduled to be completed Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
