Iowa DOT News Release

Intermittent lane closures on Iowa 24 in Chickasaw County beginning tomorrow

Posted on: March 31, 2010

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 31, 2010 – Pavement marking work on Iowa 24 between U.S. 18 (New Hampton) and Chickasaw County Road V-56 (Lawler) will begin tomorrow, April 1,  weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office.

When workers are present, the roadway will be intermittently restricted to one lane. When a lane closure is in place, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. The project is expected to be completed in approximately three weeks.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
