Iowa DOT News Release

Iowa 9 lanes restricted in Kossuth County beginning Monday

Posted on: March 31, 2010

BRITT, Iowa – March 31, 2010 – Intermittent lane closures can be expected on Iowa 9 in Kossuth County beginning Monday, April 5, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.

The closures will be in place to allow crews to widen and resurface sections of Iowa 9 from the east junction of U.S. 169 east to Kossuth County Road R-20 and from Kossuth County Road R-50 east to the north junction with U.S. 69. When lanes are closed, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. Traffic will be retune to normal patterns when workers are not present. The closures are expected to be completed by mid-September.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
