Lane restrictions begin tomorrow on U.S. 169 in Kossuth County
BRITT, Iowa – March 29, 2010 – Asphalt joint and crack sealing will cause lane restrictions on U.S. 169 in Kossuth County beginning tomorrow morning, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.
The operation will restrict traffic to one lane in both directions while workers are present from just north of U.S. 18 in Algona north to Bancroft. Traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. The roadway will be returned to normal traffic patterns when workers are not present. The project is expected to be completed by mid-April.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
