Iowa DOT News Release

Northbound U.S. 169 traffic shifted beginning April 5 in Fort Dodge

Posted on: March 30, 2010

JEFFERSON, Iowa – March 30, 2010 – Replacement of pavement and three bridges on U.S. 169 in Fort Dodge will cause the closure of the northbound lanes beginning Monday, April 5, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Jefferson construction office.

Traffic will be routed in a head-to-head pattern in the southbound lanes of U.S. 169 from Iowa 7 to the south junction of Iowa 926.  Due to the head-to head pattern, a 12-foot lane width restriction will be in place throughout the project and the northbound U.S. 169 entrance ramp from the north junction of Iowa 926 will be closed.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
