Iowa DOT News Release

Southbound I-29 lanes restricted for bridge repair work

Posted on: March 31, 2010

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – March 31, 2010 – Bridge repair work has caused the closure of the left lane of the southbound Interstate 29 bridge between exit 53A and 54A in Council Bluffs, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Council Buffs maintenance office.

Earlier today, an exterior bridge beam was damaged when it was struck by a semi tractor-trailer. The lane closure will remain in place until the bridge beam is repaired.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
