Interstate 80 at exit 254 near West Branch to be closed beginning June 1
MANCHESTER, Iowa – May 27, 2010 – Bridge construction work will require the west- and eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 at exit 254 (Cedar County Road X-30 near West Branch) to be closed beginning June 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Manchester construction office.
The closure of the westbound lanes is expected to be in effect from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 2. Closure of the eastbound lanes will be in effect from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 until 6 a.m. Thursday, June 3. Traffic should follow the marked detour during this closure.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
