Temporary lane closure on U.S. 30 in Benton County

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – May 26, 2010 – Road construction work will lead to a temporary lane closure on U.S. 30 in a two-mile section between Iowa 21 east to  U.S. 218 in Benton County beginning Tuesday, June 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office

When work is in process, the road will be restricted to one lane in the construction zone. Traffic will be assisted through the work area with a pilot car and flaggers. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
