Traffic pattern changes begin Tuesday on U.S. 69 in Ankeny

DES MOINES, Iowa – May 28, 2010 – Daytime work on U.S. 69 between First Street and 18th Street in Ankeny will cause changes to current lane restrictions beginning Tuesday, June 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

As of June 1, the contractor working to in the area is allowed to close lanes intermittently during the daytime hours until late July, when nighttime closures will resume.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
