Traffic patterns to change near the U.S. 63/Iowa 3 interchange in Bremer County beginning June 3
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – May 28, 2010 – Traffic patterns are expected to change at the U.S. 63/Iowa 3 interchange in Bremer County beginning June 3, weather permitting according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton office.
During the daytime hours, earthmoving equipment will be crossing U.S 63 just south of the intersection. Traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers. This work is expected to disrupt traffic intermittently for up to two weeks.
Just prior to the earthmoving work, traffic in the area will be shifted to a head-to-head pattern. This traffic pattern will remain in place until Spring 2011.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
