U.S. 18 restricted in O’Brien County beginning June 10

Posted on: May 28, 2010

CHEROKEE, Iowa – May 28, 2010 – Road construction will cause intermittent lane closures on westbound U.S. 18 in O’Brien County beginning June 10, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cherokee construction office.

Traffic on U.S. 18 at O’Brien County Road M-22 (west of the Everly area) will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car when one lane of traffic is closed. The roadway will be returned to normal traffic patterns when workers are not present. The project is expected to be completed by early July, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
