Iowa DOT News Release

Intermittent lane closure on Iowa 21 in Iowa County begins today

Posted on: July 29, 2010

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 29, 2010 – Construction work will require an intermittent lane closure on Iowa 21 from U.S. 6 north to the west corporate limits of Belle Plaine in Iowa County beginning today, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office

The contractor will be repairing patches and then resurfacing some sections of the road.  When work is in process, the road will be restricted to one lane in the construction zone. Traffic will be guided through the work area with a pilot car and flaggers. The roadway will be returned to normal traffic patterns when workers are not present. The project is expected to be completed by Oct. 15.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
