Temporary lane closures on I-29 near Missouri Valley begin July 31
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – July 30, 2010 – Bridge construction work on southbound Interstate 29 between exit 72 (Harrison County Road G-14) and exit 75 (U.S. 30) one mile south of Missouri Valley will require lane closures beginning 5 a.m. until 10 a.m. daily on Saturday, July 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Council Bluffs construction office.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane and motorists should expect possible delays of up to 20 minutes to allow crews to move temporary rail barriers in the work zone. In addition, an 11-foot-6 inch width lane restriction will be in place. The project is expected to be completed Oct. 1.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
