Temporary lane restriction on Iowa 38 in Cedar County begins today

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – August 31, 2010 – Milling and resurfacing work on Iowa 38 in Cedar County will require a temporary lane closure from Broadway Street to Farmers Street in Stanwood starting today, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

When work is in progress the roadway will be restricted to one lane with a 12-foot width lane restriction. Traffic will be guided through the work zone with a pilot car and flaggers. The project is expected to be completed September 10. River City Paving of Dubuque is the contractor for the project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
