DAVENPORT, Iowa – Sept. 24, 2010 – Nighttime patching work on Interstate 280 between Interstate 80 and the Iowa/Illinois state line will reduce the roadway to one lane in each direction from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sundays and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights beginning Sunday, Oct. 3, until Wednesday, Nov. 3, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.

Patching work includes interchange ramps and side roads. Motorists should expect delays. Also, an 11-foot width lane restriction will be in place.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
