Lane restrictions on U.S. 218 near the Washington/Henry County line begin Sept. 28
MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – Sept. 24, 2010 – Construction work on a bridge approach on U.S. 218 1.1 miles north of the Henry County line over the East Fork Crooked Creek Bridge will cause the roadway to be reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width lane restriction in the northbound lanes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 28 until Friday, Oct. 22, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Mount Pleasant construction office.
Peterson Contractors, Inc. is in charge of this $416,864 project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
