Iowa DOT News Release

U.S. 30 lanes restricted between Boone and Ames

Posted on: September 28, 2010

AMES, Iowa – Sept. 28, 2010 – Median work on U.S. 30 between Boone and Ames will cause lane restrictions for the next few weeks, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

Work to construct seven median crossovers and associated construction activities will cause the inside lanes of U.S. 30 in both directions to be closed between Iowa 17 and U.S. 69. The lane closures are expected to be in place when workers are present. No work is scheduled Oct. 2 and 9, the dates of Iowa State University home football games.

This work is in preparation for major construction work on U.S. 30 next spring. The median work is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
