Traffic back on Iowa 5 bridge in Appanoose County

AMES, Iowa – Oct. 27, 2010 – Opening a month earlier than estimated, Iowa 5 reopened today at mile marker 1.3 north of the Missouri state line between 600th and 610th streets near Exline in Appanoose County, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) District 5 maintenance office in Fairfield.
The road was closed July 20 due to flooding around a scour-critical bridge causing a 24-mile detour until a new structure was completed.
