Hampton celebrates reopening of U.S. 65 Dec. 2

BRITT, Iowa – Nov. 29, 2010 – The Hampton Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the grand reopening of U.S. 65, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Britt construction office.

A lighted parade celebrating the holidays and the grand reopening of U.S. 65 will be held later in the day and require closing U.S. 65 between First Avenue Northeast and 19th Avenue Northeast in Hampton from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Motorists may detour around the parade route by taking U.S. 65 to 170th Street, then travel west to Olive Avenue, and then south to Iowa 3. Traffic control will be provided by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Hampton Police Department.
