Northbound I-35 to be closed briefly near Ames overnight Wednesday, Jan. 26

AMES, Iowa – Jan. 21, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) is reporting that work on the snow gate on Interstate 35 at exit 111 (U.S. 30) will require the complete closure of the northbound lanes overnight for approximately 20 minutes Wednesday, Jan. 26, beginning at 1 a.m., weather permitting. 

The ramp from westbound U.S. 30 to northbound I-35 will remain open. The ramp from eastbound U.S. 30 to northbound I-35 will be closed. Traffic can expect delays in the area during the brief closure.    

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
