I-74 Mississippi River bridge lanes restricted Thursday
DAVENPORT, Iowa – March 30, 2011 – Maintenance activities will require lane closures on the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge near Davenport tomorrow, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport maintenance office.
Beginning Thursday, March 31, at 9 a.m., the right lane of the Iowa-bound span will be closed for maintenance. The lane is expected to reopen by 3 p.m. During the closure, the River Drive entrance ramp to I-74 in Moline, Ill., will also be closed. All work will be done weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
