Posted on: April 28, 2011

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 29, 2011 – Construction work will cause lane restrictions on Iowa 1 in Iowa City beginning Monday, May 2, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

Iowa Erosion Control Inc. of Victor, Iowa, is the prime contractor for the patching project on Iowa 1 from west of the junction with U.S. 218 northeasterly to Governor/Dodge Street in Iowa City. The lane restrictions will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. The project is expected to be completed by May 16, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
