I-74 entrance ramps to have width restrictions beginning June 6

DAVENPORT, Iowa – May 27, 2011 – Nighttime construction work will impact traffic on the Interstate 74 interchange entrance ramps between exit 298 (I-80) and exit 4 (U.S. 67, Grant and State streets) beginning Monday, June 6, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.

During the construction project, the ramps will remain open, but will have an 8-foot width restriction from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Restrictions will not be allowed on Friday and Saturday nights. The project is expected to be completed by early August.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
