Iowa Transportation Commission approves $916,500 grant for the city of Norwalk
AMES, Iowa – May 10, 2011 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by the city of Norwalk. Up to $916,500 will be made available to assist in the construction of approximately 2,445 feet of Colonial Parkway east from Iowa 28/Sunset Drive to the project site located on the east side of Norwalk.
These improvements are necessary to provide access to the site of the proposed Capital City Fruit distribution facility.
The project will support the creation of four new jobs and retention of 137 jobs at this facility, and more than $9.9 million in associated capital investment.
Funding for the grant comes from the city share of the RISE fund.
