Lane restrictions on Iowa 136 between Clinton and Charlotte begin June 6

DAVENPORT, Iowa – May 26, 2011 – Asphalt resurfacing with milling work on Iowa 136 between U.S. 67 in Clinton and Clinton County Road Z-24 near Charlotte will restrict traffic to one lane from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays beginning Monday, June 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.

When work is being performed, flaggers and pilot cars will be used to assist traffic through the work areas. A lane restriction of 10 feet will be in place in the open lane. Normal driving conditions will resume when workers are not present. This project is expected to be completed by late October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
