U.S. 34 reduced to one lane between Corning and Creston beginning June 2
CRESTON, Iowa – May 26, 2011 – Road construction work will reduce U.S. 34 to one lane between Iowa 148 (near Corning) and Iowa 25 (near Creston) beginning Thursday, June 2, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Creston construction office.
Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to control traffic during the closure, which is scheduled to last until June 23. A 16-foot width lane restriction will also be in effect.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
