AMES, Iowa – June 30, 2011 – Road construction continues on U.S. 30 from 230th Street in Boone County east to University Boulevard in Ames, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines Construction office.
Beginning on Tuesday, July 5, head-to-head traffic patterns will be extended to the west end of the project at 230th Street in Boone County. During this stage of construction, access to U.S. 30 from T Avenue (Boone County Road E-41) will not be permitted. This closure will continue until the project is completed later this fall, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
