Iowa DOT to install temporary STOP signs in Tabor #MoRiver

AMES, Iowa – July 27, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will be installing temporary STOP signs this week in Tabor on U.S. 275 at the intersections of New Street and Orange Street. Tabor has been experiencing increased traffic volumes due to the closure of Interstate 29 by the Missouri River flooding.

New Street intersection: Adding a STOP sign at the U.S. 275/New Street intersection will result in two-way stop conditions, with traffic stopping on southbound U.S. 275 and westbound New Street. Additional traffic control signs will be installed at this intersection, including “Oncoming Traffic Does Not Stop” on southbound U.S. 275 and “Traffic from Left Does Not Stop” on westbound New Street.

Orange Street intersection: Three-way stop conditions will exist when the STOP sign is installed at the U.S. 275/Orange Street intersection, stopping traffic on northbound U.S. 275. Additional traffic control signs will be installed at this intersection, including “Oncoming Traffic Does Not Stop” on northbound U.S. 275, “Traffic from Right Does Not Stop” on westbound Orange Street, and “Traffic from Left Does Not Stop” on eastbound Orange Street.
