Bids opened on I-680 rebuilding project in Pottawattamie County #MoRiver

AMES, Iowa – Sept. 26, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) held a bid letting Friday, Sept. 23, in which bids were opened for the I-680 rebuilding project in Pottawattamie County.

A 3.1-mile section of the highway, extending west from Interstate 29 (exit 61, near Crescent) to the Missouri River, was destroyed by the flooding.

The goal of this rebuilding project is to restore traffic on the highway as quickly as possible, aiming for a full or partial reopening yet this year.

A total of five bids were received; and the apparent low bidder for this project is Peterson Contractors Inc. (PCI) of Reinbeck and Reilly Construction of Ossian, as a joint venture. The bid amount was $19,239,000.
