U.S. 30 near Missouri Valley to reopen tonight #MoRiver

AMES, Iowa – Oct. 26, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is reporting that U.S. 30 between I-29 and the Missouri River will be reopened to traffic tonight at 7 p.m. The TrapBag removal process has been completed ahead of schedule. This is the conclusion of stage 1 of the emergency flood repair project.

Stage 2 of the project will begin Monday, Oct. 31. The contractor has 20 working days to complete the project. Weather can impact available working days.

Stage 2 will involve repairs to the foreslopes and shoulders. During this stage, U.S. 30 will be open to single-lane traffic during daylight hours with use of flaggers and pilot cars. During nighttime hours, all lanes of U.S. 30 will be open to traffic by using a shoulder closure.

Contract specifications allow traffic control to be set up starting 30 minutes after sunrise, and must be taken down and off the roadway 30 minutes before sunset.
