Iowa DOT small equipment auction April 14


AMES, Iowa – March 29, 2012 – A public auction of small equipment and miscellaneous items will be held by the Iowa Department of Transportation on its grounds in Ames Saturday, April 14, beginning at 9 a.m. Equipment for offices and shops, automotive supplies and many other items are included in the sale, which will be held in the auction building south of the Iowa DOT's sign shop on South Fourth Street.

Office equipment to be sold includes copiers, facsimile machines, file cabinets, shelving units, tables, desks and chairs. Shop equipment will include air impact wrenches, drill presses, air compressors, lights, mowers, pneumatic hammers and tool boxes.

Automotive supplies include radios, tires and tire chains. Also included in the sale are GPS equipment, many digital and video cameras, projection system and much more.

Sale items may be inspected at the sale site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 13, and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14. Payment for the items must be made the day of the sale by cash, cashier's check or certified check. Personal or company checks will be accepted if accompanied by satisfactory identification. Items may be removed from the Iowa DOT’s grounds after full payment and the buyer provides a receipt for their purchase. All items purchased must be removed by 3 p.m. Friday, April 20.

Sales tax will be collected. Dealers must provide tax-exemption numbers to be exempted from the tax. Prospective bidders who have permanent bid numbers are asked to bring those numbers to the auction.

Lynch Auction Co. of Boone will conduct the auction. Coffee, sandwiches and cold drinks will be available at the auction site.
