NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 29, 2012 – Road construction work on U.S. 218 near Janesville will resume Monday, April 2, and continue until early November, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. Traffic on U.S. 218 will be maintained at all times in various configurations.

Bremer County Road C-50 near Janesville will also be closed at the east intersection with U.S. 218 due to road construction work beginning Monday, April 2, until early November. Later this summer, Barrick Road located on the west side of the intersection will also need to be closed. Motorists will be asked to follow the marked detour route, which uses Black Hawk County roads C-57 and V-25.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
