Railroad repairs to close lanes on U.S. 75 north of U.S. 18 beginning April 30


SIOUX CITY, Iowa – April 24, 2012 – Track repairs to the BNSF Railroad Co.’s crossing on U.S. 75 near the north junction with U.S. 18 will require an emergency road closure beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 30, until 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.

While the crossing is closed, traffic will be detoured on U.S. 18, Sioux County Road K-52 and Lyon County Road A-52.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
