CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – June 26, 2012 – Bridge repair work at Eighth Street (exit 20B) over southbound Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids will require closing the roadway, up to 20 minutes per time, to remove and replace concrete beams. The road closures on southbound I-380 are expected to occur between midnight and 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 27 and 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids Construction Office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
