Iowa Transportation Commission approves grant for Grinnell
AMES, Iowa – June 12, 2012 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by the city of Grinnell. Up to $1,355,306 will be made available to assist in construction of approximately 2,700 feet of new roadway west of Iowa 146, which is located on the south side of Grinnell. This project is anticipated to be completed by July 2013.
These improvements are necessary to provide access to the site of Brownells Inc.’s distribution facility for firearm accessories, gun parts, ammunition, and gunsmith tools, as well as 134 acres for light industrial purposes.
The project will support creation of 162 new jobs at this facility and more than $10.2 million in associated capital investment.
Funding for the grant comes from the city share of the RISE Fund.
