U.S. 69 in Story County to close for reconstruction June 11

AMES, Iowa – June 1, 2012 – Asphalt milling and resurfacing work will require closing U.S. 69 north of Ames between 190th Street and one-half mile south of Story County Road E-18 beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 11, until late-September, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's District 1 Office.

During this closure, traffic will be detoured by using Story County Road E-18, Interstate 35, and 13th Street in Ames. Side access along the route will be limited to Story County Road E-23 in Gilbert, with property owner access throughout the project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
