NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 31, 2012 – Bridge repair work has resulted in the closure of the eastbound Iowa 57 off-ramp to northbound U.S. 218, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Eastbound Iowa 57 traffic will access northbound U.S. 218 by exiting south on Iowa 58 and continuing to Waterloo Road. Traffic will then turn left on Waterloo Road and take the on-ramp to northbound Iowa 58. Drivers will continue north on Iowa 58 which turns into northbound U.S. 218. This detour will remain in effect until mid-September, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
