All lanes of I-380/U.S. 20 in Evansdale will be open by Thursday morning
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Aug. 28, 2012 – All lanes of Interstate 380/U.S. 20 in Evansdale will be open by the morning of Thursday, Aug. 30 as the reconstruction of the southbound lanes is completed according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
However, crews will still be working off the roadway and there will be periodic short-term lane closures over the next few weeks. Starting Tuesday, Aug. 28 after 7 p.m., weather permitting, the contractor will begin opening the northbound lanes of I-380 to traffic. Both of the northbound lanes will be open by Wednesday morning. On Thursday morning, Aug. 30, the southbound lanes of I-380 will be open for traffic.
The Iowa DOT has developed a website at www.iowadot.gov/i380/ to provide ongoing information related to the I-380 revitalization project. The site includes project details, corridor facts, a project timeline, emergency detour routes, and photos of the project area and construction activities. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
