Subdrain installation on northbound I-380 beginning Sunday, Nov. 18

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Nov. 16, 2012 – Installation of subdrains will result in the closure of the left lane of the northbound lanes of I-380 near the east interchange of I-380 and U.S. Highway 20 beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The lane closure will occur during the following times.

  • 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, to 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19.
  • 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 19, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20
  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21

Installation of the drainage system is being completed in preparation for the reconstruction of northbound I-380 scheduled to begin spring 2013. The drains will reduce excessive moisture, which can cause delays in construction.

Information about the I-380 project is also available on Facebook at www.facebook.com/IowaDOTI380.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
