Northbound Lanes of I-35 Near Bevington Closed Until 12:01 a.m. May 3 #iatraffic
AMES, Iowa – April 30, 2013 – An oversize load severely damaged the bridge over northbound Interstate 35 at mile marker 58.5 in Warren County on Monday, April 29, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Office of Bridges and Structures.
Currently, northbound I-35 traffic is detoured around the closure at Bevington (exit 56) by using Iowa 92, Iowa 28 through Norwalk, and then Iowa 5.
The Iowa DOT is using emergency letting procedures to enter into a contract for the removal of the damaged portion on the existing bridge structure and restoring northbound traffic on I-35 The estimated completion date and reopening of northbound I-35 is Friday, May 3, at 12:01 a.m.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
