U.S. 63 Near Hudson to Close May 6 for Concrete Pavement Replacement #iatraffic

Posted on: April 26, 2013

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 25, 2013 – Concrete pavement and grading work will require closing a section of U.S. 63 from the intersection with Iowa 58 at the south edge of Hudson, in Black Hawk County, to the intersection with U.S. 20 in Waterloo beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, May 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Access to businesses along the construction zone will be maintained during the project. Northbound U.S. 63 motorists will be detoured around construction by traveling on Iowa 58 at the south edge of Hudson north to U.S. 20, and then east to U.S. 63. Motorists on southbound U.S. 63 will be detoured onto westbound U.S. 20, then west to Iowa 58, then south to the intersection with U.S. 63.

This project is expected to be completed by mid-November.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
