I-380 Road Construction from 1.4 Miles North of County Home Road Southerly to 33rd Avenue Bridge in Cedar Rapids #iatraffic

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – May 23, 2013 – Road construction work on Interstate 380, from 1.4 miles north of County Home Road southerly to 33rd Avenue Bridge, in Cedar Rapids is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. most nights beginning Tuesday, May 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office. Lane restrictions and ramp closures will occur in the project area as needed.

  • Southbound I-380: Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) overlay will be placed on the mainline, shoulders and ramps from 1.4 miles north of County Home Road to Ash Pit Road bridge (Cedar Lake) near St. Luke’s Hospital. This portion of the project is expected to be completed by Aug. 31.

  • Northbound I-380: Work to prepare for HMA overlay will take place from 33rd Avenue to 1.4 miles north of County Road. The HMA overlay on the northbound lanes may not be completed until the 2014 construction season.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
