Nighttime construction requires closing 73rd Street/8th Street at I-235 in Windsor Heights beginning Tuesday #iatraffic

DES MOINES, Iowa – Aug. 26, 2013 – Construction work to remove a bridge deck on the westbound Interstate 235 bridge over 73rd Street/8th Street in Windsor Heights requires closing 73rd Street/8th Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night beginning Tuesday, Aug. 27, until 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office.

Motorists should follow the signed detour routes.

The westbound exit ramp at the 73rd Street interchange (exit 3) remains closed until Monday, Oct. 7.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
