U.S. 6 between Iowa Speedway Drive and Iowa 224 in Jasper County to close Sept. 3 for culvert replacement work #iatraffic
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Aug. 26, 2013 – Box culvert replacement work will require closing U.S. 6 between Iowa Speedway Drive in Newton and Iowa 224 near Kellogg, Tuesday, Sept. 3, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.
During this closure, through traffic should use the following detour routes.
Eastbound U.S. 6 will be detoured south on Iowa Speedway Drive, east on Interstate 80 at exit 168 in Newton, north on Iowa 224 at exit 173, then back to U.S. 6.
Westbound U.S. 6 will be detoured south at the intersection with Iowa 224, west on I-80 at exit 173, north on Iowa Speedway Drive at exit 168, then back to U.S. 6.
This project is expected to be completed by mid-October.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
