Nighttime lane closures on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) in Dallas and Polk counties begin Sept. 22 #iatraffic
CRESTON, Iowa – Sept. 17, 2013 – A left-turn lane improvement project on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) in Dallas and Polk counties will require nighttime lane closures from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights beginning Sunday, Sept. 22, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.
Left-turn lanes will be lengthened to accommodate more vehicles in both the east- and westbound lanes at five intersections with U.S. 6, including:
- Warrior Lane
- Alice’s Road
- 156th Street
- 142nd Street
- 128th Street
Absolute Concrete Construction, Inc. of Slater is the prime contractor for this $390,000 contract.
This project is expected to be completed by Oct. 27.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
