Bridge repairs and westbound I-80 lane restrictions continue at U.S. 6/U.S. 65 and Hubbell Avenue interchange near Altoona #iatraffic
DES MOINES, Iowa – Nov. 7, 2013 – Westbound Interstate 80 traffic will continue to be restricted to the right lane at the Altoona interchange (exit 142) until approximately Sunday, Nov. 10, while emergency repairs are made to the I-80 mainline bridge that was damaged by an oversize load traveling north on U.S. 65 under I-80 on Oct. 31, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Other construction-related traffic information
- Northbound U.S. 65 under I-80 near Altoona will be reduced to one lane due to emergency bridge work on I-80. There is a 16-foot width lane restriction and also a 14-foot height restriction in place until the I-80 bridge is repaired.
- Westbound I-80 motorists should expect traffic delays until the bridge repairs are completed and may want to consider taking alternate routes to avoid delays.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
