U.S. 63 traffic pattern change in Waterloo scheduled for Nov. 11 #iatraffic

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Nov. 8, 2013 – The traffic pattern on U.S. 63 in Waterloo from Newell Street to Donald Street will change Monday, Nov. 11, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

U.S. 63 traffic in this section will be shifting from a two-lane, two-way traffic pattern to a four-lane divided traffic pattern. However, the outside lanes of the north- and southbound U.S. 63 will be closed from Monday, Nov. 11, through Monday, Nov. 18, to complete storm sewer intakes and reconfigure the pavement markings.

Dale Street will be closed from Monday, Nov. 11, until Monday, Nov. 18, so work to repair a storm sewer pipe can be completed. WCF and N Drive will remain closed during the winter months.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
