Interstate 35 remains closed, Iowa DOT cautions drivers #iatraffic

AMES, Iowa-  Feb. 21. 2014 – 6:25 a.m.  The Iowa Department of Transportation is preparing to reopen Interstate 35 from Story City to Mason City later this morning. The agency would like to remind drivers that when the road reopens, it will be completely snow and ice covered and high winds and blowing snow will continue to cause visibility issues.

Several crashes last night led to the interstate closure. Because of the disabled vehicles on the roadway, snowplows were not able to treat the roads properly overnight, but will be out in full force this morning as soon as the disabled vehicles are cleared.

If you must drive on Interstate 35 north of Story City this morning, please buckle your seat belt, do not use cruise control, reduce your speed and leave ample space between vehicles.
