Construction on westbound I-235 between 73rd Street interchange (exit 3) and 63rd Street (exit 4) in Windsor Heights begins 8 a.m. Sunday #iatraffic

DES MOINES, Iowa – March 20, 2014 – Construction work to build new sign trusses will require short-term lane closures in both directions of Interstate 235 between 73rd Street and 63rd Street in Windsor Heights beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 23, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office.

This project will also require shifting both the east- and westbound I-235 lanes and closing the shoulders. The project is expected to be complete by mid-May.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
