CHARITON, Iowa – March 18, 2014 – Replacement of the bridge carrying Iowa 152 over Interstate 35 near Osceola will require closing the bridge to traffic from Monday, March 24, through October, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.

The Iowa 152 bridge replacement project requires nighttime closures of the north- and southbound lanes of I-35 from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, until Friday, March 28. Traffic will be routed around the road closure using the interchanges north and south of exit 36.

Beginning Monday, March 31, traffic will be restricted to one lane in both the north- and southbound lanes of I-35. At exit 36, I-35 traffic to be routed around the work zone using the exit and entrance ramps. This portion of the project will be completed by Friday, April 4.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
